
Dr Deirdre Manton
Dr Deirdre Manton grew up in Tipperary and went to college in UCD, obtaining her medical degree in 2001. She went on to complete a 2 year Medical Training Scheme in St Vincent’s Hospital in Dublin, and worked in various specialities including Respiratory medicine, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Rheumatology, Medicine for the Elderly Haematology, and Neurology.
Following this she moved to General Practice training on the Midlands Training Scheme, and became a member of the Irish College of General Practitioners in 2007. During this time she also obtained a DME (Diploma in Medicine for the Elderly), CTH (Certificate of Travel Medicine), DCH (Diploma in Child Health) and DOWH (Diploma in Obstetrics and Women’s Health).
Dr Manton has a special interest in Women’s Health. She worked for a year in the Irish Family Planning Association and also has completed Contraception and LARC (coil and implant insertion) training with ICGP.
Dr Manton worked in Dublin for several years in Templeogue and Dundrum. She spent a year in Dunmore East in 2012 and she and her family had a wonderful year, sewing the seeds for a permanent move a few years later.
Dr Manton moved, with her family, to Waterford in 2017 and has worked in WMC since Jan 2018. She has a keen interest in running, swimming and tennis and enjoys living in the countryside again after many city years.
